"...it's normal for infants to turn away after a social interaction. That is how they regulate stimulation."

Just a thought - but how do we, as adults, regulate our social interaction? Do we think that checking Facebook regularly is like briefly interacting with people, and then turning away like a baby? In so doing, we delude ourselves into thinking that we're regulating our social intake/stimulation, but in reality we are creating imitations of relationships. Facebook and other social media can be good, but typically it has turned meaningful relationships into shadows, causing us to call our good friend less often than we would if we didn't have the ability to check his or her status every few days or weeks.

Some food for thought.
